The 2024 Paris Olympics begin in 319 days, and LeBron James wants to be a part of it.
According to Shams Charania and Joe Burdon of The Athletic, the 38-year-old Los Angeles Lakers starhas a "strong" interest in playing for Team USAin next year's Summer Olympics, and he does not want to do it alone He does not want to do it alone. He is so interested in suiting up for Team USA next year that he has reportedly contacted NBA stars to recruit them to play with him.
It appears that James started thinking about the Olympicsnot only because Team USA lost to Canada on Sunday and finished fourth in the FIBA World Cup. The timing is entirely coincidental, as James has reportedly been thinking about this for some time.
It may have been on James' mind for a little while, but Team USA's current roster may have had some influence. Currently, Team USA has no players with Olympic experience. And there are only three All-Stars on the entire team. While past experience and All-Star appearances do not guarantee success, Team USA currently lacks the star power to show that it is ready to take on any formidable opponent.

Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors)
Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns)
Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers)
[27 28] Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors
All five players are also ready to commit to playing for Team USA in Paris with James. According to Charania and Vardon, Devin Booker of the Suns, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks and De'Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings are also interested in playing, but James has not been contacted.
All but one on this list have some degree of Olympic experience. Durant has played in the last three Olympics and was the MVP of the 2020 team. Green has played in the past two Olympics. Davis won gold with Team USA in 2012 and Tatum won gold in 2020. Curry is the only one who has not competed in the Olympics, but he did win World Cups with Team USA in 2010 and 2014.
James will be 39 years old when the Olympics begin, and he and several other potential Team USA stars reportedly view the Paris Games as their "last dance" in USA Basketball. James has played in three Olympics, most recently in London 2012, where he won two gold medals and a bronze.
